Prof. Ching-Yao Chen is a full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), one of the leading research universities in Taiwan. After earning a BS from National Chung-Hsing University in 1988 and two years mandatory services in the ROC army, he studied at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, University of Southern California, where he received his MS and Ph.D. in 1992 and 1998, respectively. Before his return to Taiwan in 1999, Prof. Chen was a research associate at the University of Southern California and University of Electro-Communications (Tokyo). His research interests lie in fundamental fluid dynamics, with an emphasis on interfacial instability. Recently he has extended his research to dynamics of ferrofluids and magnetic-particles.

Research Interests: CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics), Miscible/Immiscible Interfaces, Magnetic Fluids/Particles
